Circuit ICAR Cars & Coffee Season Opener
In my opinion. Octane Fix took Cars and Coffee to an entirely new level.
Hosted at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Quebec; about 1 and a half hours east of Downtown Ottawa. Every Sunday Octane fix puts on one of the best re-accruing events throughout summer. The Greasy Fix team had the chance to attend the event this past weekend (April 22nd, 2018) and I was completely blown away.
We got into Ramzi’s Jetta and made our way towards Mirabel from Ottawa around 10:30am. Quebec’s roads are notorious for being pothole filled so we took the 417 instead and got off on the back roads towards the event. The key to a good cruise is to always take the back roads.
After the continuous clouds of vape smoke and boost we finally arrived at Circuit ICAR – paid our 10-dollar entry fee and rolled our way through the gates. To the right of the entrance we see none other than Dominic’s replica of Jesse’s’ The Fast and the Furious’ Jetta. So, like any sane person that grew up watching that movie we stopped immediately to idolize the crap out of an iconic masterpiece. After drooling over some German rarity, I noticed a small lineup of cars and a time board with a dude pointing people through. “Mini Time Attack!”, we immediately jumped back into Ramzi’s Jetta and raced towards the start line. Yes, there was a mini time attack session for all to use – starting at corner 13 and ending at corner 15, this included a quick dash to a chicane then entering corner 14 which is a large hairpin and then toward 15s easy right hand to the finish line – no more than a 21 second run. We got a few rides in our new friends Porsche 911 Carrera GTS who is an extremely experienced driver who cracked 18 second passes
Making our way through the huge number of cars we saw nothing but smiles for miles. Everyone looked so happy to be out in the sun for once, including us. Everything from euro-tuned to a few American muscles, It’s finally our season! Aside from just the mini time attack coarse there are also open ¼ mile runs as well as amateur drifting (which was an extra $40 to participate in).
Dominic and François from Octane Fix has changed the game of what cars and coffee is. This event happens every Sunday so make sure you check it out at least once this summer!
